I just read a letter that I wrote to my mother 54 years ago! It was in a huge box of letters I was going through to aid in researching a book I’m writing about my years in Ethiopia. When I wrote it, I was in Capetown and I said what a beautiful place it was and how it seemed more beautiful each day I was there. I was nineteen years old and so excited to be traveling around the world. It had been my dream for my entire life.
