Violet is the color of amethyst, lavender and beauty berries. It takes its name from the violet flower. Violet and purple look very similar; but violet is a true color, with its own wavelength on the spectrum of visible light, while purple is a composite color, made by combining blue and red.
The first recorded use of violetas a color name in English was in 1370.

A pretty shade, especially on flowers. It’s perhaps a little paler than what we think of as ‘Royal Purple’.
