Color your World: Violet (purple)

Violet is the color of amethyst, lavender and beauty berries. It takes its name from the violet flower. Violet and purple look very similar; but violet is a true color, with its own wavelength on the spectrum of visible light, while purple is a composite color, made by combining blue and red.

The first recorded use of violetas a color name in English was in 1370.

Violet has been a Crayola crayon since the company’s origin in 1903
