2020 Photo Challenge #15

If you would like to join in with the 2020 photo challenge then please take a look at Jude’s 2020 Photo Challenge. No complicated rules, just a camera required.

This week’s assignment – Look for vertical lines. Vertical lines convey a sense of power and strenght, especially when the subject itself is towering and imposing, such as a very tall tree or building. Watch out for diminishing perspective on very tall buildings.

This week’s assignment – Look for horiontal lines. In a photograph, horizontal lines in particular need to be completely level across the frame, because your viewer’s eyes will perceive even a slightly skewed horizontal line as uncomfortable to look at or just incorrect.

I have also found these Mambo stone sculptures at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town to illustrate the smooth and the rough textures

Texture

This week, share a texture found in an unexpected place. It could be made of natural materials, as in these images, or with man-made objects. This is a great opportunity to look at the world in a slightly different way — along with looking at things from new angles, zooming very far out or very far in are both great ways to create texture and pattern in photos.DSC00162
