You have quite a collection of abandoned buildings, Aletta. The one with the sand piled up to the tops of the doors is amazing to see. Some of the buildings look rather new. What a blow – literally and figuratively – to have the sand take over your house!

It is incredibly interesting to walk there and see how the dessert takes back this place.

I can imagine. Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of a ghost town I visited in California, but it is a lot newer. Sometimes we think we are managing nature better than people did in the past, but pictures like yours prove us wrong. Nature has us beat hands down, and when we try to build where Nature says, “Don’t build there,” we do so at our loss. 🙂

Ek beskou enigiets wat my aandag so kan vashou as kuns – iets wat jou laat dink en wonder.

Daar’s soveel foto geleenthede by Kolmanskop!

I like deserted places like this. Whether they’re art or not is a matter of opinion I guess, but your photos are lovely and very artistic.
