Color your World: Granny Smith Apple

Granny Smith Apple is a shade of Green. Crayola issued this color in 1993 under the name ‘Granny Smith Apple,’ and is currently available in the 96 pack of crayons.

Crayola had a color naming contest to promote  their 90th anniversary of the Crayola crayon.  These were placed in a special limited edition No. 96 big box that was only available for one year; from Nov 9, 1993 to Nov 8, 1994 after which time they would use their normal crayon wrappers with the new color names only.  Granny Smith Apple colour was named by Ashley Rempe, Age 11.DSC_0008badge

  1. Your post makes me want to run out and buy a new pack of crayons!! Let’s face it, crayons were one of our most treasured childhood possessions. I even made a crayon costume one year for my daughter at Halloween. The fact that I saved it all these years, while other costumes were recycled, shows the deep impression the lowly crayon made on my psyche!!
